Stupid purchases!!!!!Well, I think the stupidest thing I did was buy a 45 gal. tank...too tall, too narrow....after a few months, and much aquascaping later, upgraded to my 75. Also, silly me....listened to a friend who had been out of the hobby for a few years. You have to buy a fancy wet/dry filter with those cool bio balls...hmmm, bio balls quickly were ditched...wet/dry filter...a waste of money!!! My home-made sump works much better and was quite a bit cheaper! I suppose we all live and learn ;)

Well the most recent dumb thing I have done was While setting up my 75 gallon tank I purchased some live rock from Ebay ( Someone was moving and selling all of there salt water items ) When I received the rock I put it in my tank ( not yet cycled ) and in the rock there were 3 crabs they survived trip and the cycle and they were doing very well but I didn't know what kind of crabs they were.  ( Did I try to find out? NO DUH ) well after 2 months I figured I would start putting some critters in my tank 2 Fire fish and some Xenia coral.  Well the crabs ran over to the Coral like I just rang the dinner bell and started pulling the polyps off and eating them. So I took the coral out and put it in my Sump and I started looking for the crabs and then I saw one of my fire fish swimming erratically and then it died shortly after, It had a big hole in the side, one of the crabs got it. Well I had to take all of my LR out and find the crabs and catch them, While doing that I herd water running on the floor, Well I knocked my drain hose for my skimmer down and it ran all over the floor what a mess. I then took the crabs to my LFS (After cleaning up my mess) and he said they were defiantly not reef safe crabs. All I can say is don't just assume that a critter is OK because it came from someone else's tank.  I did get some satisfaction though, The crabs made a nice snack for the LFS's Trigger fish ;D

Was starting to replace a float switch that was not working and just started this task and when to unplug the cor when I saw it was already unplugged. DOH must have happened during a water change.

Oh yeah! The hubby is a computer guy...whenever I say something is not working, that is his first question...."Is it plugged in?"....I do that all the time sadly.... ::)

LOL - lets see....most recently, I used Epoxy to try and put some smaller pieces of rock in my aquascaping....now I am going back to zip tie them together. Epoxy = garbage (at least in my tank).

Another one - I was gently pulling the plug to my skimmer out and my thumb touched the prong while it was still in the outlet. Ouch!

    Ouch! Everyone is getting electricuted!

I've been 'learning' a lot lately...

-A few weeks ago, I loosened up a kalk clog in my I.V. only to have it dump the paste in my tank and on my Xenia patch. No more xenia.  :p

-Didn't quarantine some frags or inspect them well enough and introduced aiptasia in my tank which I am still dealing with.

-I put my tank in the room with the worst air circulation. NOw I have fans on all the time.

-Tried to detach my clam from a rock with my hands instead of snipping the foot with scissors. No more clam. :-[

-Yesterday I installed a pump on the wrong side (bad instuctions - I swear!  ;D )  in my Tunze Osmomot. (a replacement for my I.V.) This caused the sensor to not work right and I came home to a tank full of air bubbles. Amazingly the pump still works.

-And the #1 one dumb thing I did was setup more than one tank. Now I don't have any free time!  ;D
