In my experience Duncans like low flow and should go on a low placement in your tanks.

Xenia like light. The more the better, they like moderate flow too. So the higher up you go in your tank the more it will spread. And it spreads easy!

thats what i figured with the ziena, but ive heard alot of mixed things with the duncans, my lfs said they like lots of light, they had em in one of those 12" deep 250 gal coral tanks under some halides. and then ive heard others say like you said low light. guess in the middle they go.lol

I didnt say low light i said low flow.

You need to feed duncans, meat also (I fed mine krill), so they are not totally dependent on the light, so placing them on the sand is more then sufficent for them.

Coral reefer or tangster or geekdafied may have better advice then me tho.

Mine are in the middle of the tank in a moderate flow. They did open up more in a low flow area, and as phoenix mentioned, they love their food. In fact they are seriously greedy and will quickly finish off whatever you give them!

Great coral and is one of my favourites.

I have had My duncan in high light med flow for the past four or five days and it is doing great. Frizza said it, duncans can eat, im sure if I tossed in a mini cheese burger the pig would eat it.

No, if they do have a sting its very, very minor.. Mine is right next to a mushroom and a montipora...
