So my duncan i got from my LFs was doing great getting acclimated to his new home. I stopped home from work this afternoon and unplugged my skimmer and added a capful of " reef plus " which has trace elements and iodine and all that good coral stuff in it. I left the skimmer unplugged so the corals could soak it up. I just got home looked at my duncan and he looks pissed all shriveld up as small as possible. Has anyone else had issues with trace elements and their corals or have any idea what else it could be ?
    thanks

I know my duncans like to close up time to time but next thing I know they are open. It always happens when I add water to the tank. I would give them sometime before I get to worried. as for adding trace elements I always add it to my make up water so its in small doses. Dont know if it will affect corals adding direct.

Right, you shouldn't be doing this IMO. Never add what you are not testing for and only add it then if your tests indicate you are low.

iodine is one of those things you can overdose your tank on.

I would say there's a good chance the trace elements did this.

If you do regular water changes (even once every 6 months) these levels should be fine and dosing trace elements really is not necessary.

I would suggest getting an iodine test. if it indicates you are too high, I would take steps to lower it (like running carbon).
