    I have had a lil feather duster in the tank for a few days and he is out all the time and seems like he is doin fine..what ever duster fine is...He is shedding his crown? Why would he be doing this....

    They often shed their crowns after spawning so they dont consume their offspring so to speak - if your water went cloudy recently that might be the answer

    also if the feathers get damaged, bent etc and do not provide an adequate trap for food, they will shed in order to grow a new set (for improved fishing so to speak)

    I think feather dusters are cool looking... I love the way they zip back into there tube when a fish swims to close to them or they get aggitated.
    Unfortunatly i dont own any big spieces yet. Just small christmas tree worms
