30 gallon may be OK, if you are not keeping any clown fish or other aggressive along with dwarf angelfish.

earlier I had 29 gallon with flame angel ,watchman goby and clown fish, tank was never peaceful, clown always chases flame and flame angel end up hiding always. Now they all in 90 gallon along with two tangs and no more chasing. they all have their own space, don't even fight during feeding as well.

regarding nipping corals, flame didn't bother any coral, though i have only softies.

We have a small osc clown that is probably only 1 inch. Not agressive at all, so i think he would be ok with a flame. He and our chalk bass get along great.

So, how big to flames get? They get tall too right?

From my quick search on LA, they say four inches.

Yep, I think that is referring to 4 inches long.

If I had to guess how tall they get, I would say 2-2.5 inches.

30 gallons...eh. I know they say minimum 30 gallons, but honestly, I'd never put a dwarf angel in a tank that size. They are extremely active, slightly aggressive and need a lot of rock to graze from.

I had one in my 40 gallon and thought it was too small. I was going to give him up soon, but he died :(

I have a flame in my 90 and he uses every inch of space.

And always add the angel last, they can be quite aggressive.

About coral - some pick, some don't, and some start to randomly after months or even years. It's really just a risk you have to take!

I agree that 30 is too small. Of course I don't have a lot of room to preach since I have a desjardini in a 135 and I consider that a bigger sin. I have had two flame angels and both have picked at corals. Acans do seem to be a favorite but my current really likes my montipora. So far he hasn't been so relentless that he has killed it though. He just picks every once in a while.
