The angel should be fine with your other livestock but it's doubtful that it will help much with your algae problem. It could actually contribute to it by increasing nutrients. You may need to combat this with increased water changes, running GFO.Live sponges are not easy to keep, they reguire good water quality, proper flow, low light.

Thanks for the input. I'm not expecting the Angel to get rid of the GHA. I'm getting a skimmer in on Monday and I do weekly 5 gallon water changes. My LFS said that they rarely get sponges in anyways. They had 3 in about a month ago, but they told me they would be really difficult to take care of. I'll definitely look into GFO. Does it leach the phosphates back into the water after a while?

Sounds like a plan. Not sure about GFO leaching but I have used ROWA PHOS in a cannister filter with good results,it would probably work in your HOB,you would need some sort of media bag for it.It seems pricey at first but you only need to use a small amount at a time.

IMO gfo is better it works better in a reactor but it will still work just putting it in your sump. Rowaphose works great and each container comes with a media bag to put it in just rinse it off before you put it in your tank. Rowaphose wont leach anything back into your system once its exhausted.

Good news! They're also giving me the tank that the Angelfish is in ;D I believe it's a 54 gallon corner tank. I think I'm going to give my 29 gallon to my brother and move all of my livestock to the new tank. So I have a couple of options:

1: I could keep the new tank running as a FOWLR
2: I can put the Angelfish into the 29 gallon and move my corals to the new tank.

Just thought I'd let you guys know :) I'll let you know what happens.
