So, I think the time has come for me to add my last fish...
.... I hear that if u want an angel, it should be the last fish u add.
    background info-
    55gal
    Little over a year running
    80lbs live rock
    80lbs live sand
no aggressive fish(most aggressive would be my royal gramma, but he's good with all other tankmatankmates) I do have a blue damsel too, but I got lucky, she's completely docile.
    Lots of softies
    few LPS.

    I've got 3 in mind-
    Flame angel
    coral beauty
    potter's angel

    Opinions?
    Personal experience?
    Anything?

Its a gamble with dwarf angels with regards to coral nipping. I have a flame angel, not aggressive IMO. I love it. It has nipped a few times I have seen but my coral are large enough I havent seen any noticable issues. I say you give any of the above you have in mind a try.

I had a flame in a mxied reef with good success. I hear the coral beauty are also a very good candidate for the reef aquarium but have never housed one.

I always wanted a Potters but that is by farthe msot difficult one of the 3 to keep long term. Never tried one but I may in the near future.

That's also what I hear, some nip, done don't. And related to that, I hear they usually tend to nip if they're not being fed enough, and increasing feeding usually helps with that...

    Is this true?
How long have u had yours?

No potter's angel then for me. I should give the easier ones a try first. I'll look into that about the potter's, I didn't know that. Thanks!

No problem. There actually isnt a lot of information out there about them to try and r esearch for some reason. They do seem to be a pretty docile angel and there have been theories abotu them doing better in cooler water, I believe they are a deeper water species. The only other information I could really find is they are one of the species that has a hardewr time adapting to captivity and getting them to eat can be a challenge, but once theyre eating they become a hardy little angel.

A fish that might be suited for you with all that liverock aged over a year, as with msot fish I would purchase smaller juvies as they fare better with the change usually.

If money isnt an issue the jocular or venustus angels are really nice as well but kinda pricey.

    Hmmm...
Cooler water? That seems weird considering they're Hawaiian...
but like I said, I know almost nothing about them.
I usually keep my tank alot warmer than most, I think that's out of habit from back in my African cichlid breeding days. Warmer water was actually better for their health....

I have a flame angel in our tank for almost over 1 year and have no problem being aggressive with tank mates. It's a beautiful fish with bright colors that stand out and eats whatever I give it

I did keep a flame angel a while ago and it did not last. It died without an identified reason. I have read where they can be somewhat difficult to keep long-term. I currently have a coral beauty and bought it when it was really tiny. It's a model citizen and have had it well over a year. I absolutely love potter's but have never kept one. I only have softies and a couple of LPS and I have not had problems with the coral beauty nipping. HTH!

I have kept 2 Coral Beauty Angels, my favorite dwarf angel. The first one was in a 55 gal reef with sps, lps and a clam. Never had a problem with aggression or coral picking. I ended up selling him when I broke down the tank. My current CB is also a model citizen, although I do not have any lps or sps in the tank right now. He has not shown any aggressive tendencies yet.
