They don't "need" that much it is all opinions. I think a 120 would be great for a Scopus. Heck I have a Desjardini and Yellow in my 90.

Oh and from what I have seen angels are a 50/50 gamble. Never know till you get it in there.

Man, this deteriorated to a tang fight pretty quickly.

In my experience, no angel is 100% reef safe. Same species, two individuals and one will behave, the other won't. I never had a flam, coral beauty or pygmy actually eat corals, but the coral beauty annoyed the soft corals as it grazed. The pygmy never went near the corals and the flame only seemed to pick at the hard corals as it grazed, never doing any damage.

One thing is that I always had seaweed in the tank for them to graze on.

I keep a flame with clams a lots of soft coral. No problems so far. Just keep him well fed.

I still would recommend a bottom dwelling fish over a freeswimming one as I mentioned before. The tang and the angel wil harrass each other in that size tank.

Keeping a large free swimming fish in a small tank is just sad and bad aquarium husbandry. It is not ALL opinion it should be common sense. But unfortunately there is nothing common about sense. So sad.

You seem to be under the false impression that all opinions are created equal. This is far from the truth. Would you go to your auto mechanic for an opinion on cancer?Certainly not; you would go to a doctor. Why? Because his opinions are based on facts, knowledge, and experience. I can guarantee you this; my opinions are based on these same principals. My only goal here is to help others succeed. I am not saying these things to you to keep you from having the fish you want.Nor am I saying I know everything.I just hate to see them suffer. Its your tank and you can do what you want but with great power comes great responsibility and its our job to see to it that the animals in which we assume control over have the best chance at surviving and living long happy lives. In the long run its the fish who pays the ultimate price when we fail to do that.

And yet people asks for opinions from multiple doctors and they often disagree. 120 Gallon tank is, in many "doctor" opinions, adequete. Will the fish be able to swim full speed for 30 seconds? No, this doesn't mean the OP is "stunting" or otherwise endangering this fish. You have a common thread to your posts... negativity of others decisions. Like the last post said, he is not talking about a 5 gallon bucket here...

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I disagree, what is consistent in Vinny's responses is his concern for the welfare of the animal, which is my primary concern. No one is trying to be the tang police but rather offering the best advice from years of experience. It's the OP tank and he will do what he/she wants but if you post expect honest answers.
