Dwarf lion and snowflake eel questions?

oh i have the nutramar! they seem very interested when ever i shoot some into the tank(every other day) so i am sure they are picking some of it off the rocks!

 

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$, but lots of people say things like that as their fish starve..."they MUST be eating".

Another good food for mandies are live blackworms. Be careful and don't feed out too many at a time, as they die quickly in SW.

We kept a mandy for 8 years in a 55 gal mixed softy reef. However, it ate most prepared foods as well as pods. At the end of its life, it did go off its feed and became painfully skinny...no reason other than old age, I suppose.

 

Yes Greg it is not uncommon to hear that it stopped eating prepared foods. This is yet one more reason I feel its not a good idea to put one in a tank that is too small to sustain a natural population of pods. If this does happen you really have no recourse except to either rehome it or spend the time with added microalgaes and or the purchasing/cultivation of pods.I would also like to point out because of the shape of this fish it is VERY difficult to actually see the stomach area because of the orientation of its fins. The only way to actually see the belly is when it moves up the glass and looking from underneath. It can take months for them to wither away. These fish when healthy look like psychedelic suasages and you should not see any indentations on the body.

 

I've heard of them going off their feed too...kinda like WC SH used to do in the old days.

 

He went off his feed when he got stung by something (we presume) and was blinded in one eye. He was also moved three times in like 4 years. Poor guy.

Here's a picture of Prince Diamond (my Niece named him) before he went carpet surfing.Never had a clue this fish would be a jumper but apparently thats not uncommon either.

Stung by somethng, as in coral. He had a white stripe down his size that tapered to a fine tip, much like the tentacle of a LPS. He color gradually came back in as months passed, but his sight was never restored. He was never the same after that.

isnt a 75 gallon a bit small for a dwarf lion, 2 dwarf angels, and a tang? the dwarf angles are sure to fight in that size of tank.

 

Tang keeps them in line! they do chase each other if they go on each others "personal space" but the tang polices them lol tang police!
