I have one in a 65 with snails, hermits and a cleaner shrimp and he does fine, dosent bother a thing, hes small tho only about 4 inchs now which is about the size of my cleaner. I also do not have alota coral, just mushys and polyps so i can't comment on their waste effecting water quailty tho i havent noticed any changes in the mushys and polyps.

    hope that helps.

Use a feeding tube to control overfeeding if you have to

Small fish would be at risk. So if you have anything that will fit in the lions mouth I would think twice ;)

i have kept a dwarf lion in my reef before. I too had no shrimp. As noted make sure you have no smaller fish in the tank, or even fish around the same size. Plus it does tend to make a lot of waste but it sounds like you are set there. Sometimes they will lie on the corals and can damage them but I never had a problem with that

One bit of warning I would give...dwarfs like to hide within the rocks during the day and are masters at blending in. I am sure you are aware that they are venemous (dont cause any real problems unless you are allergic) but trust me it HURTS HORRIBLE! So you will have to search and be aware where the lion is when you put your hands in the tank.

I have kept a couple lions (2 dwarfs and a volitan in the past) and was stung 1 time. Very painful, threw up, sweaty....but if you do get stung run hot water (as hot as you can take without burning yourself) for at least 15-30 minutes and take a benadryl. However from my experience lions will not try to sting you...you tend to hit the lion by mistake. I was stung trying to get one out of my parents tank once...and got careless.

    Good luck

i have just started my reef with a few mushroom polyps and my dwarf lion seems happy with the light so far. he doesnt act any different with the metal halides i have on my tank. i have him in there with two clowns and a mated pair of coral bandeds (BIG!!) and he hasnt bothered anything but only time will tell. But do add him last if you get one.
