If I get a Dwarf Lionfish, what kind of problems can I encounter with my other fish? Sources say they can be peaceful as long as the other fish are not too small to eat. My smallest fish is about 2 inches. 1 Green Chromis and 2 Clown fish. My biggest is 4 inches, a Raccoon Butterfly, and I have one sea star.

What sized tank? Lionfish of all sizes put off a lot of bioload. Even a dwarf lion will eat clowns and chromis. If not at first, they will grow and eat them.

I am just getting back into the hobbie after a 5 year hiatus and looking back I can see many mistakes that I have made. Introducing a lion fish to my tank was one of them. At the time I did not think that the lion fish was big enough to consume my other fish. Well needless to say I cam home one day and noticed I was short 3 fish and had a very full lion fish. The lion fish is great to have but if you are not certain it wont eat its tank mates I would refrain.

+1 on the clowns and chromis. Keep in mind Dwarf Lionfish can grow to 7", so don't let the "dwarf" part fool you ;)
You could consider a fu manchu lion. They stay smaller, at about 4"

Dwarf lions = 7" or more, volitans lions = 12" or more. It's kind of like "dwarf" bunnies growing to 8lbs. lol

I have a Volitans lion and a Fu manchu in a 96gal. I added a dwarf fuzzy lion and it immediatly went after my Fu manchu. Split it's fin in half!
Next day i took him back and haven't stopped apologizing to my Fu since.

I like the Volitans. IMO, 2 or 3 look very nice in a good sized tank all by their lonesome;)

On the other hand, their mouths can extend to slightly more than quarter of their body length.

They should only be kept with larger non aggressive species.
