3-6 approprately-sized shrimp would be a good meal, fed 3x a week. Our weaned fish typically get 5 or 6 pieces of food (about the size of their eye) in a feeding.

Since you'll be weaning your fish, let the fish get some weight on it (give it 3-4 weeks on live), then you can start weaning it. It sometimes helps to let the fish get a little hungry, as a hungry lion is more likely to try dead food.

Incognito (my wife) has super mad weaning skills, as well as being a pretty sharp fish nutritionist. Much of her wisdom is in our weaning article, but we never stop trying to improve on them. We're currently experimenting with an updated "stealth stick", which we hope will make the job even easier.

I didn't read all the posts, I'm sure there is a lot of good information but I'm being kind of lazy right now. I've had my dwarf lion for about 6 months now and went through the exact same thing your going through.

At first it was very timid. It hid under a rock most of the day, but same around at night.

I used live ghost shrimp to feed the fish. I did that for almost a month, just feeding live ghost shrimp. Then I started mixing frozen mysis with the live feeder shrimp. This way when they hit the water the lion wouldn't know the difference and eat both the frozen and the live. They I slowly added more thawed mysis and less ghost shrimp until finally it was just thawed mysis I was adding. Worked in just about 6 weeks.

Literally the thing eats anything that hits the water yet. It's even eating Dr.G's reef coral banquet I feed the tangs.
