    No. Keep in mind that rays are related to sharks. Which means once you get one, thats all you'll have once it gets hungry ;)

    Thats definitely a specialty tank item. I wouldn't even recommend any one have a shark or ray. They get too big and is hard to get a tank big enough to hold them.

    In a 125 you could keep a Sea of Cortez ray if;

    a) Most of your LR was in your sump, and
    b) You have purchased very fine (oolithic) sand

    They need a lot of sand and that's why the LR to process the Ammonia is kept in the sump.

    I kept a California round spotted ray in my 150G tank successfully for 2 years before my tank was ruined by home remodelers/contractors. If you do want to keep a ray in the tank, it needs to be wide enough for them to move comfortably. Most larger tanks are 18" wide, which is not enough for a ray. I had my tank custom made to be 48" long by 24" wide which was enough for my ray, which generally stay small with a 12" disc diameter when they are adult. As Curt stated, keep only oolitic sand as your sand bed, anything else will scratch their bellies. I have about 160-180lbs of oolitic in that tank.
