They get to be about 2 inches max. They are very tiny lol - if they curled up, they could fit within my thumbnail.

I will definitely update - I am getting 4 more on Wednesday - so I'll take pics of the new arrivals too! I am crossing my fingers for babies sometime soon. There has been a little bit of breeding behavior, but the males are having a hard time sealing the deal. I'm hoping with these new 4, they will have some more choices to successfully pair up.

Dwarf seahorses have no game! Who knew? Maybe if you dose a bit of vodka..... 8)

Cool pics, looking forward to seeing more.

lol normally they do have game xD I messed up their groove by moving them a few days ago, and the males have been having a -really- rough time adjusting. The girls are all at the tops of the grass getting the most brine and the boys are all along the bottom of the tank or at the corners away from everyone. Plus two I think are under the weather. I had one that died of tail rot earlier, but now the others are getting this stiff tail thing, and after doing a little research, I'm thinking nematodes since the symptoms are the same. And only the boys are getting it o_O Anyway I have two in temporary quarantine to hopefully get rid of whatever is bugging them. They've already both had freshwater dips, so now I'm doing medication to see if I can rid them of these nasty things, whatever they are.

have you done hydroid prevention work on the tank? It is set up really well. If no hydriod pre treatments have been done seahorse.org wouldn't certify it 100% but among online tanks doing zosterae this is among the best planned. What led me to think it may not be hydroid isolated was the addition of animals from reef tanks...typically in small amounts of water and in many cases on the animals themselves hydroids can find their way into the tank from a reef tank up the chain. they aren't evident till a later stage.

sometimes Ive wondered if horses kept incredibly strong by great feeding and water quality could just fend off the hydroids, or that maybe just the seahorse fry are hydroid sensitive...either way the oldest traditions of dwarf care state droid prevention as at least #3 important, that was a turn off to me in reading about seahorse care. If you have seen them not to be an immediate problem thats nice to know

Your best action was not using live rock or sand from a reef tank, any hydroids imported would be very small in number. was this tank ever treated w panacur>
