This piece was stung by a colt coral ... probably for a few weeks before I realized the problem.

The main stalk of this branch has been bleached ... at least it was bleached ... its starting to turn a moldy green color.

there is still lots of healthy branches, the question I have, is should I break this apart and frag it in order to save it.

EDIT: Sorry for the junky image, its far from the glass

I personally don't have experience with dealing in SPS. But I've heard from people that if one colony begins to go, to frag at least one section to ensure its survival. Incase its experienced a blow it can't recover from. The wisdom in that is varied, again my SPS experience is non existant :)

Can't tell a lot from the picture but if it is bleaching it could be going through slow tissue narcosis (STN). I haven't had an SPS go through RTN/STN ... yet. From what I've read you are better off fragging it to save what you can. It could also be cause by lack of flow. As the coral grows the branches, or perhaps your colt, block too much flow from getting to the center. I kind of doubt that a colt would sting an SPS. In my experience its the other way around. I have a colt that rubs against a Bali green slimer. The colt gets stung and the slimer keeps growing.

Maybe try increasing flow to the coral. If it continues to recede frag what's left.

    Good luck.

Hmm. Just saw your other thread on the Zeovit. Did this coral start looking bad when you added the Zeovit? I would stop dosing and see how it responds.

If it was stung badly, that portion is dead. The color change is algae growth on the dead portion of coral. No need to frag unless it starts to spread. Keep you water stable and watch for further die off.

its been like this for like 6-8 months ... it doesn't seem to be spreading, just changing color now.
