Anyone had any luck with dying PVC pipes/fittings? The fitting I need (3/4 slip x 3/4 slip x 3/4 fpt tee) is only available in white. I need it dark grey or it'll look like crap. Anyone had any experience with dyes? Are they safe to use for a reef system?

what color do you need, easiest thing to do is get a can of krylon spray paint at the local HD or Lowes

yea it think personally it'd be easier just to get krylon spray paint for plastics and do it that way and just make sure it drys for like 48 hours just to be safe and it shouldn't hurt anything once it is the water...i think someone will correct me if i'm wrong

Check out schedule 80 PVC, it's grey already and works with the same fittings/valves generally as schedule 40, it just has slightly thicker walls so the inner diameter is slightly smaller.

Otherwise there are some paints that people have used before in tanks, I personally don't trust them, but I believe like was said before Krylon Fusion has been used before but I think it may chip/flake eventually.

    EDIT:
To add another option look at the fittings options there has to be a way to take a tee and make one side have a FPT connection. At the very worst get a regular schedule 80 tee and use an adapter to make one side FPT.
    Here is an example.

I believe there may also be adapter bushings that you could use, you may need a 1" tee and bush 2 sides down to 3/4" slip fittings and the third bush down to a 3/4" FPT fitting. I think usplastic.com has those too but don't quote me on that. :)

basically I need it to go the dark grey, which is typical of the schedule 80 stuff. Just having a hell of a time getting parts in Canada. Ordering out of the US is not an option as brokerage is a joke.

I'd rather not use spray paint. Even if guys have had good luck with krylon in the past, I just don't want to risk it flaking on me.

I'm gonna go to big als tomorrow to see what they have in terms of fittings. Hopefully I can piece something together.
