So I go Sunday to pick up my new tank, a 72 gallon bow front. I got it with stand, hood, light and pump/filter for only $75. I will probably discard the pump, light and hood in favor of a sump and some reef lighting.

I plan on using a 29gal for a sump but won't know for sure if it will fit in the stand until Sunday. If it won't I will just have to pick up something suitable at petco.

I plan on using this for an overflow: Reef Central Online Community - View Single Post - Silent and Failsafe Overflow System. I would like to use a center overflow with a small overflow box just around the pipes. For my return I would like to utilize corner returns with vertical spray bars to minimize the use of powerheads in the DT.

So, there it is, I plan to document as much as possible as well as probably ask a ton of questions in the process.

Great score...you will most likely only be able to get a 20 long under there..that's what I have under mine..one prob with that is it has to go in through the top before the DT goes on top of the stand..

A 20 long would be fine. I have a lot of work drilling and painting before this tank goes up, so dropping it in from the top shouldn't be a problem.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an overflow box? I am looking for something like in the picture from the link earlier, but doesn't go the length of the tank. I want it to stop on either side of the bulkheads. Are there a lot of negatives to having a small overflow box?

Heading off to a great start!
I always wanted that type of overflow. It's as quiet as it gets, no salt creep and plenty fail safes. I wish I would have known about it before I set the tank up.

    Good going!

    And good luck!
