Anyone have any luck switching from tobacco to electronic cigs ? I've been 2days now without smoking thanks to an E Cig.

Just looking for other opinions and suggestions for starter kits instead of disposables

Have you considered going to a GP and getting some advice maybe on a nicotine patch to help you quit?

I've tried patches, gums, and pills. Took advantage of cessation courses while I was in the military. All failed miserably. I've been a pack a day smoker for close to 15 years. The is by far the best success I've had yet. I don't get the cravings I've always had before. Over time I will be lowering the nicotine content to 0, just gradually instead of cold turkey ( tried that as well and was miserable )

That's great news, good for you, every day is a great day, take it one step at a time.

I cheated and used champix, I never tried, it just happened that I didn't want a smoke, and trust me, I smoked for 28 years, sometimes broke into my 3rd pack on a crap day.

I love hearing about people who are giving it up.

I haven't smoked since March 6th 2011 and no I don't fee any better at all, my cooking still tastes like dog mess, I have a great excuse for being fat, but I know I am doing the right thing for my body.

LoL. Stay cig free, you know it's right, have you tried champix ?

I quit about 7 years ago and it's night and day difference. I walk easier, sleep better and feel better. The first 2 years I still had cravings, now I'm the worst nonsmoker ever. I can't stand the thought of it.

    Good foy you!

Those have worked well for my cousin who has smoked for as long as I can remember.

The best piece of advice I can give you in regards to quitting smoking, is don't forget yo reward yourself (in a healthy way) so that you do not feel like you are losing something. Don't think of it as quitting smoking think of it as rewarding youself for doing something healthy. When I quit, I would take 15 minutes several times a day and just walk outside enjoying whatever nature had to offer me at that point. It has now been 12 years since I had a smoke, I don't even think about them anymore and I am so much happier/healthier for it!

I've used both Green Smoke and South Beach Smoke and both work really well. All but the cherry and menthol flavors are gross. I think that you'll find that to be the case with all e-cigs. You will not ever find any that tastes like your brand no matter what the reviews say but if you're willing to make a compromise with taste, you can't go wrong with the two I mentioned.

Yep, I quit about 8 years ago, used the patch so I didn't kill anyone and still had a few friends left, because, lets just say, I got a little testy without my nicotine.

Now 8 years later, food tastes better, I feel better, sleep better, etc.

What I did as a reward was throw $5 a day in(how much it cost be a day pack and a half) then every 6 months had around $900 to blow on something, new TV, new tank etc. It gives ya a reward to look forward to.

    Good luck

thats great.......keep up the hard work!

I havent smoked but know 2 people using the ecigs. They have not smoked for over 2 months and they havent even gained weight.

I think these are a great idea because part of the habit is not only the nicotine craving but the whole hand-mouth thing which the pills etc doesnt address.

Yeah I'm thinking once I get clear of all the excess toxins and ween myself on the nicotine I may still have the whole hand-mouth thing to deal with. I plan on passing on my savings to my two hobbies. My expanding marine system, and RC touring car racing.
