What is the easiest starfish to keep? I have one sandsifting sea star but want to get another kind of starfish. How hard is the Blue Linckia (Linckia laevigata) to keep? I am also interested in the Marble Sea Star (Fromia sp.)
and the Orange Sea Star (Echinaster sp.).

    Brittle stars seem indestructible:hammer: :hammer:
The others are of moderate care level

I would highly discourage any Linckia or Marble. As very little is known about what they eat. It is very common to read of someone getting one and it starts to drop legs or slowly disintegrate due to starvation.
I would only recommend a starfish to someone with a very large tank that is very mature. Even then I wouldn't give any Linckia mare than 2 years.

I would stick to sand sifter, brittle, or serpent Sea Stars

Ditto to what fellow reefers suggested...Serpent and Brittles or if you don't have a reef tank then go with a Chocolate Chip!

I thought Chocolate Chip Sea Star's were not reef safe?

i've been wondering about the same thing.i know the blue linkias get to big and now i know the orange ones don't last.i was going to get a orange linkia.thanks for the info.i have teeny white and also brown ringed serpants that don't get big but they don't come out much.i know brittles hide alot 2 and when they get big enough will ambush fish,at least the green ones do.so what about the fromia stars?i have'nt found much info about them.the reef store said their not reef safe but i've read they are.is anyone keeping a fromia?
