here was a little article taken from a big story about those erasers.so be carefull what ever you do with it inside a tank....:(
If I had known that both brands (and others like them) contain a harmful alkaline or "base" chemical (opposite of acid on the pH scale) that can burn your skin, I never would have let my little boy handle them. As you can see from the picture, when the Scotchbrite Easy Eraser was rubbed against his face and chin, he received severe chemical burns.
here is the full article if you care to read it......

i read it on snopes to but be warned they got some major pop-ups lol........and found this to be true......also being a acrylic expert i would warn you about using and such thing on acrylic im not tottally sure whats in those sponges but i can tell you this much windex has very ill effects on acrylic and breaks down the material and can weakin it over time leading to pre-mature failure so be carefull what you do clean acrylic tanks with.....i personally use just warm water or novus#1.hth......:)

Found this posting on that thread any thoughts

was doing some research on it, and it is a foam, of sorts. kind of like fiberglass how it is made up of tiny threads. so while it appears to be soft, that's because it's so fine, and so densely held together. some have reported chemical burns, but it is actually debridement from the scrubber. people don't realize it's abrasive, because it feels so soft

My thoughts are to not let your kids rub their face and chin with it ::) I know you can't watch them all the time but you can and should put your cleaning products somewhere that the kids can't get to them.

You want to use this inside your tank? I would caution against that but that's just me!

They are definetly abrasive... I have seen them scuff up paint (factory paint on a motorcycle) pretty bad...
