I actually just added some 420's and greens to the setup. now totaling 30 1w chips. My goal for this setup was a cheap setup. So far it cost me total 36 bucks :)

Thanks! Next step I think is to make it tidy and more appealing to look at the assembly.

I have to check that out. maybe if this setup fails on me in the long run I'll look into that. Sorry guys for the multiple posts with quotes. don't know how to attach multiple quotes with this iPhone app.

right now after my fish all crashed and 8 losses I'm only going to try and build up the coral in the tank for a month or two. Corals and Cuc were only ones to survive and thrive after fish died. I currently have pipe organ coral. candy cane. a couple polyps (not sure of names) and green metallic star polyp. I'm open for ideas.

Well, I certainly wouldn't add any more LPS and SPS is out of the question, imo. Zoas, mushrooms, ricordias, and other soft corals like kenya trees etc. should be fine.

just out of curiosity...why would sps be out of the question? I've seen people mix the two.

I would worry about its ability to sustain cooling on the LEDs. Legit heatsinks are used for a reason (they extend the life of the bulbs).

SPS require lots of light. eBay LEDs that aren't in super high numbers don't put out enough light to sustain them. Softies or LPS take a lot less light.

Lighting requirements. You will need a lot more light.
