Ebay lighting. Will it be enough?

    how deep is the top of the water to the top of the sand? and what are you trying to keep in the tank?

    Well.....you really do get what you pay for in lighting. That is a sad fact. I have fallen victim to the eBay cheap lighting with, gulp, a really bad set of PCs. Yes, I am still using them. After that experience, I vowed to just go top notch from here on out......and I am still saving the money for the lighting system that will do me fine.

    In your case, you are looking for a six footer. Lots 'o money. Spending five or six bills and getting the lights inclusive will probably do you well for the time being. But just realize that the ballasts you are getting are probably second rate, as are the wiring and the connections.

    The lights themselves are most likely the cheapest they could find, which would make sense....in order to maximize profit of such and inexpensive item. Just to give you an idea of what a real good set costs....look at the Maristar brand of MH. The 6' fixture along (250W x 3, etc) runs just under a grand. Then you have to buy the lights.

    Good luck.....you may want to consider saving up a little longer to get a good quality set.
