Based on the advice of several, I have decided to embark on the EcoBak journey. I am using a BRS Dual GFO/Carbon Reactor. For switching to EcoBak, I put the 500ml of EcoBak in the Carbon Reactor (output portion of the reactor) and moved the carbon to the GFO (input reactor). I spoke with Jon Warner and he recommended having the EcoBak on the output side.

Right now, My parameters are fairly good; pretty much zeros, slight amount of phosphates being detected but I am having some GHA and cyano accumulating. It is a "new" tank having just transferred everything from my old tank to this one. Thus, all my live rock was mature and I generously populated my sand with sand from my previous tank.

The test will be to be how well my GHA and cyano reacts with the EcoBak. This will be a "multi-variable" problem in that I am also in the process of adding more flow to the tank as well. That alone should help on the cyano.

I'll report back as I go along.

BTW, Jon Warner recommended that I continue to run GFO for a while to give the bacteria time to colonize. Thus, I moved my GFO to a media bag in the sump for the time being.
