It is a shame that Ecotech chose to implement the client software configuration utility as a windows application. Given the fact that the technology to embed a web server on hardware is now ubiquitous throughout many consumer grade devices. ALL of the functions available in the windows app could have been done in a web app that would support both whimdows, Linux and Mac OS operating systems (and others). Poor choice Ecotech!

Being in the technology industry myself, this makes me question the true nature of the Ecotech engineering capabilities. Probaby designed and built in china...india...somewhere in se asia and it still costs $750US. I am not sure who they out-sourced the software development to, but the documentation is poor at best.

I own an MP40W es, and I am not impressed at all with the overall hardware design and implementation. I would like to buy the radion led light to go with the pumps, but the more I research it the more I am disappointed.

There are tons of emulators out there for mac and *nix. Is it ideal? No, not really... but it gets the job done. Since Windows make up like 90% of the desktop/home PC world and generally does NOT support competing products it makes since.

I've had their MP40w pumps for 3+ years now, and have been able to call and talk to them about problems and have seen them implement customer/community feedback into their revisions... They're very knowledgeable and accessible to their users so why not direct a useful and polite letter to them suggesting your ideas?

Also, _EVERYTHING_ digital is just a series of 0's and 1's so there's no reason you shouldn't be able to hack an interface to the radeon through any other system. I'm unaware of OS specific hardware.... everything is universal at it's basic level. I know there is an arduino group that hacked out the mp40w's signal/protocol, and I assume they're using the same radio for the radion, so it's just a matter of capturing data and figuring out what it wants to talk about. take one apart, figure out what chip they're using, and go from there...

or just call them and suggest your ideas.

That 90% windows users is not really accurate. I would bet it is getting closer to 50% when it comes to those in our hobby. In reality, I think they should have made it Apple IOS and Google Android compatible as there are far more computers running those opperating systems out there.

I am already running VMWare and reFIT so I can boot into windose or a VM. I don't like to do it though. It makes my MBP run hot. :)

im not putting windows into my mac!
i too wish they would get the program set for a mac, but i sometimes wonder if its not ecotech but apple that has put glitch in this.

Apple charges an arm and a leg to use its products I'm not surprised at all that EcoTech told them to shove off.

Ecotech is not the only company in our hobby that has failed to produce Mac OS compatible software, GHL is also guilty of this (and I'm sure there are more). Beyond our hobby, there are a ton of niche programs that are also not compatible on Mac. For example, I need to use a program called Echoview daily at work. This program is a widely acknowledged authority in its field, yet it does not work on Mac OS. I wish it did, same with Ecotech's software, but I don't think this should lead us to question the engineering capabilities of the company. Unfortunately, many still view Mac's as "toys" rather than real computers.

I work for a software company. I'm qualified to question their engineering capability...for software! Like I said, it was a poor decision to do this with a client app vs. a web app. :)
