Hello. First let me say that i may just be experiencing a noob problem because im not used to using LEDs on my aquarium.

I currently have a 40 Gal Cube aquarium with a pair of T-5s on top. One regular bulb and one Actinic/blue bulb.

I wanted my new coral frags to look real nice, so I found a good deal at my LFS for an ecoxotic panorama strip in the 453 nm/Blue spectrum.

I got it mounted on my T5 fixture and turned it on. Looks great with the T5s on . BUT When I turn the T5s off, sure the corals pop like no other.

However the Blue is very intense almost like it plays tricks on your eyes. My roomate and I felt like we were bugging out in a club or something. Futhermore (and more concerning for me) when you take your eyes off the tank after looking at the Panorama lighting by itself. Your eyes actually have to re-adjust , just to look across the normally lit living room.

My original intention was to just get some moonlight for my tank and maybe make the corals look better. But with only the 453 panorama on, my fish dont go to sleep like normal. They stay active for who knows how long.

Is this light too strong for a Moonlight on my tank? I was thinking, just use the Panorama as a supplemental light to my Daylight. And getting one of those Truelumen Moon light LED strips the one with only 3 LEDs to get my desired Moonlight effect.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Personally I think they are too intense to be used as moonlights. Panorama modules were designed as primary lighting. You might want to try their Stunner Strips for moonlighting.

They are far too strong for moonlights, you want a couple .5W LED only. They eye adjustment is normal also. I would buy LED designated as moon lights.

I use two of the Panorama combo white/blues over my 16G bowfront and am really happy with the look. For moonlight I use a RKL moonlight pod.
