Is Bulk's GFO bigger than Chemi's? The orange fish-egg sized particles in Chemi's went right through my filter and into my tank last time I tried it.

Yea, you just have to rinse it to get the fine dust out, but after that, it will not pass through the sponge filters in your reactor.

Thanks. Out of curiosity, is there a media that works for both nitrate and phosphate?

There is no absorbent or nitrate. The closest is bio pellets which promote bacteria growth and that bacteria consumes nitrate and to a lesser degree phosphate as it grows.

GFO will remove toxic metals, which can inhibit growth of many organisms. So, indirectly, it could help nitrate. Also though, if your phosphate is too low, organisms will not be able to use nitrate and nitrate will accumulate more. So, it could go either way.

As to the reactor media. With chemi-pure, your paying for the convenience of a bad already prepared to go into a canister filter. I don't see why you would want to pay the extra money if you have a reactor. BRS ROX carbon is better than the carbon in chemi-pure and I think GFO is GFO to be honest (it seems to mostly all come from same manufacture)... just my .02 though.
