Okay, my wrasse has been a very picky eater lately. When he first came home he at like a pig, and after a few days he didn't want to eat anymore. Physically he has looked fine, but tonight I was looking very closely at him and his eyeball looks weird. It looks like there is a white string on his eyeball. The "string" is in an arc, and curves with his eyeball. What could this be?

There is no way I can get a picture. Sorry!

Sounds like an eye fluke. You'll want to treat with praziquantel. I prefer Prazi-Pro by Hikari

Without a picture, I'm truly taking a stab in the dark here based on the description. There are very few medications that I'll use in a display tank including Prazi Pro. Not only will it kill the flukes, it will kill bristleworms, coco worms, feather dusters, flatworms, etc. In a tank with 3 bristleworms, big deal. In a tank with 50 unseen bristleworms, that could be a substantial Ammonia spike.

Okay. I will pick up some of that medicine as soon as I can. flukes sounds nasty. Where do flukes come from? Can flukes kill?

I will put the medication in the main tank, because one, I don't have a QT tank, and also, I only have 8 pounds of live rock in there and the life is very minimal. I've only seen two tiny featherdusters.

    Thanks for the response.

flukes probably. how does the texture look?
i had a damsel in my first tank that got that and HIS FELL OUT!! but he was fine and lived till my water cooked my fish.
are you positive its not just derby from the tank? sometimes i think my fish have something but then it washes off and it turns out it was just junk that corals or something releases.
