I was thinking to myself today about my lights and what all the wonderful benifits of a great lighting system are.
    Then I started to wonder
WHAT ARE THE ADVERSE EFFECTS OF BAD LIGHTING/OLD LIGHTS on a reef tank. Any thoughts

lights match the corals, which is good and bad. its good for the corals and bad for your wallet.

:LolLolLol I think that the lights in my system are at the top of the list as far a tank cost , given their price and cost to run.:sunny:if onlt I could harness the sun.
Yea, algae for sure its a problem but what if (HYPOTHETICALY) you ran a UV sterilizer and had corals that did't use photosynthisis are their other issues.

Me to and its a never ending battle. Got better lights and circulation and its about gone. Have a better light and RO/DI ordered and that should hopefully eliminate it.

I'm going to go with algae/cyano too. UV really isn't a solution to algae I'm afraid. And the bulbs are horribly expensive.
