hi guys just having a little battle w/ my power board . i came home last night to no power. so i take a look at the power board and its like a tiniest bit of salt has gotten in to the plug and put like a burn flash over the end of the light plug . i wiped it clean ,it doesnt look like its damaged (but the powerboard looks stuffed) so i got another one .
do you think that im cheating death if i use that light again or should i get an eleco to check it out i dont want to leave my marine critters without light.

It should be fine. If it just arced across the prong and fried the power board the light is probably ok.
Plug it in and check it out. If it shorted you will know about it real quick "evil :)"
Seriously, that's what I would do.

you could change the plug if it got burnt bad.

it works fine , its amazing that i didnt have to replace the lights ...etc
the plug wasnt fried too much basically it was like a flash that left black residue that i wiped off got a new surge board and let the plug dry for a day before i plugged it back in.

I had some water drip into a wall socket from my old 10g FW, there were burn marks on the outer panel, I wiped it clean and it the plug still works.
Nothing shorted so I assumed it was fine, but I got uneasy about it and decided to replace the outlet, good thing, you should have seen the inside wires.

I would suggest replacing any outlet that gets water in it, you never know what's going on in the inside.
