Hi, my elegance has been receding the last week or two. I'm worried it might be dying as I've heard a few people say they do easily. What do you think?

Have you been doing regular water changes?

Once every two weeks, nitrates stay pretty low. Skimmer is working well, there is a slight cyano outbreak because of my lights being old. Would that cause it to close up this bad?

Also, sorry for the last response I was at work.

From my knowledge elegenance corals need low/med flow and good light. I had mine tucked back in a whole and it shrunk now its huge. They are very picky if you have a powerhead beating it up it will retract

Well I moved it back to the sand bed I thought maybe sitting on the rocks made it mad. Not the case apparently it seems to have gotten worse. I don't know what to do now.

Mine gets indirect flow in the sand bed but not shaded under 2 - 250W LED's and my nitrates are on the high side and have been......they do not like a super clean tank...they need nutrients like nitrates

I had it in a corner shaded and it never opened all the way..

I bought one about two weeks ago and it didnt even make it 5 days. After reading up on them I found out just touching them is bad for them. Basically any changes can cause them to die. I wont ever waste my time with them again.

Don't give up on them. I've had mine well over 18 months and it has survived through 2 tank swaps. It's in my nano right now and it's quickly outgrowing the space it's in.
