    Hey gang, I went to my LFS on friday and came back with some new goodies. One of the things i bought is a magnesium test kit. Just wanted to know if anyone else herd or used this brand of test. Elos aqua test. The guy at my LFS (that i trust) told me it was some of the best tests that he ever tried (in 20 years), they are pharmaceutical grade, easy to use and precise as heck. The only draw back is the price. Paid mine 45$, 10$ more than salifert. Here's the web site http://www.eloseurope.com/.

    Thanks

    Marc.

    That is cool Marc! Never heard of the brand though... I don't know if they are sold here in the States or not? I haven't seen it at any of the pet shops I go to!
    Let me know how it works out and how the magnesium is in your tank.

    Tests are easy to do. Put 3ml of water with the supplied syringe into the test vial, 9 drops of regent 1 and add drops of regent 2 until the color turns from pink to blue. Multiply the number of drops by 100 and my mag was at 1200.;D

    After using the seachem mag test for a year man am i happy that i found this one (never tried the salifert one though).

    Marc.

    Hi Marc;

    Can you indicate to me where in the Montreal area you found those test kits?

    Elos make good test kits, I wouldn't worry about the general quality of it, they are pretty highly regarded in my experience, hence the price tag. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with their magnesium test, I just use the alkalinity test, so I can't help you there, but maybe you'll feel a little more comfortable paying good money for it knowing there are a lot of people who regard Elos as a good quality brand. :)

    I just ordered the Elos mag kit. Hope it's not disappointing. I'm not dissatisfied with the Salifert but it's out of stock over at BRS and I need other stuff.
