    Hello everyone..
I heard that when Emerald crabs get big/bigger...they can harm your livestock...is this fact?
I have two ..bought at the same time, both the same size (dime size)..Now, one is about the size of a quarter and the one I thought perhaps had died...well he is about the size of a half dollor.
and hes looking like a killing mchine.
Im thinking maybe trade him in...
    any suggestions?
    Thanx in advance.
    ;)

Never had them attack anything, but my SPS once all the bubble algae was gone. This was the pink version he ended up in my sump.

Crabs, crabs, crabs...Don't like/trust them unless they are wearing a shell on their back (hermit) or on the dinner plate. :-/

Ive had emeralds kill abalone's to eat them. ALL crabs are omnivores, none are trully reef safe. Even hermits will kill snails for their shells, it doesnt matter if you have empty shells in there or not, if the hermit wants it, it will take.

shrimp dont eat algae though do they?

I've had an emerald for nearly a year with no issues, my hermits are little murderous bastards I've lost count of how many snails I've seen torn apart by them esspecially the zebra hermits

I have a large (pink) variant of an emerald he never has bothered anything that I am aware of and given his size I think he could eat just about anything he wanted to in my reef. Crabs are not perfect for the reef but I have a large emerald a large Sally a large Arrow plus a reef lobster because they all are so cool!!! am I right or am I right. ;D
