Emerald Crab (Emmit) MIA

I feel bad so dont get on me to bad but I think my emrald crab died, possibly from lack of food. I knew they eat algae but I thought where scavengers too. I really dont have much algae in my tank. Mild cause of cyano thats on the back end of its cycle is pretty much it. I always seen Emmit picking of the rocks so I assumed he was eating somthing but he is missing now so maybe he starved? I did hand feed him seaweed sheets but it was only couple times a week (I was thinking as a treat).

Should I not get another Emerald being as I dont have much algae? Do you think his death was from starvation? How would I keep one alive without adding to much uneaten food?

 

I have had quite a few and they are notorious for hiding in rock work.

No corpse no death is my philosophy, I have had fish disappear for 3 days to only come about later in the week. But supplemental feeding is important if there is not enough algae present.

 

+1 My emerald crab disappeared for over 3 weeks and then he magically appeared. It's probably still alive.

 

We have 3, and some days we only see maybe 1. When they get hungry enough, they come out when we feed the fish & wave at us. I haven't seen our red one for 3 days, but I'm sure he'll show up tonight & wave at me.

 

was thinking that too although its been about 2 weeks since I seen Emmit. However only about a week since I really started looking for him.
