I put in my clean up crew yesterday, 8 hermits, 8 Snails, cleaner shrimp and an Emerald crab, he was ripping around yesterday, and lastnight but now hes just been sitting under some liverock and hasn't moved in hours.

is he just chilling or dead? hes not picking or eating just sitting.:-/

Emeralds are mostly nocturnal, so you usually don't see them do much. IMOPE, one may be quite active for the first few hours in a new tank if it came from a fairly clean environment where it didn't get much food, at least until it gets it's belly full. After that they just hide, picking and nibbling occasionally.

Hi Dustin and welcome to 3reef.

It's not uncommon for crabs and shrimp to molt shortly after introduction. As Mr.Bill also stated it not uncommon for them to be much more active at night.

I would just leave the crab be in case the crab is starting a molt.

I've had my emerald crab for about 2 months now and I think I've seen it twice since then. Like a ghost crab lol
