I have had two emerald crabs for 4 months. they never bother coral and a fun to watch. My clowns don't like them though and often push sand on them and try to bite them. But the little guys throw up the claw of power to chase them off.

I have seen them throw up the claw of power at me, when I'm wiping down the glass.

I've had one for about 4 months now and its never caused any issues. Ever since I put him in the bubble algae hasn't been seen, so I assume its eating it.

Its never bothered anything else in the tank or even act aggressive towards anything.

Ok, I'm going to try to get a SMALL one. Jwin and I will hopefully make a trip to the LFS on Friday. He wants to buy Princess a present - he can buy his own snails!

I have one and he is great. He is fun to watch and he is a great cleaner. The one little annoyance is that he has a habbit of using frags as 'doors' to his little cave. I have to be sure to attach new additions well. Otherwise he will pull them to his cave and use them to plug up the entrance...it's actually amusing to watch him try to pull up a frag after i have glued it down. He seems frustrated when it doesn't lift right up.

I have 2 Emeralds in my 75 and while they dont (normaly harm corals) I did notice one of my Paly frags had its footing coming off the plug one day. I wondered what could have done it and left it be. The next morning I woke up and walked down the stairs and into my living room and what do I see in my Aquarium? Here's one of my Emeralds straddling the plug just a choppen away at the corals base. THAT little bugger pissed me off!!! I moved the frag to a different location and it hasnt messed with it anymore.

I will tell you they are funny to watch. At night my wife will shine a flashlight in the tank to watch the critters moving about and everytime she comes upon an Emerald it will wave its claws in the air(water) as if saying ok I give up you caught me.

I finally had to give up my emerald mithrax crab. He was an efficient scavenger, entertaining to watch, and a crowd pleaser, but too disruptive for our tank. I started with two. After a couple of weeks, one of them disappeared. We weren't sure what happened to him, though we did eventually find pieces of his buddy scattered about the tank strategically placed in random holes and crevices of the live rock. While he never tried to eat any corals or my anemone, in spite of loving to sleep under and on my corals and anemone (he used to be nicknamed the Sun Cup Guardian), he did knock our unattached corals over on a regular basis. The next death that concerned us was our cracked-open-shell arrow crab. The only thing in the tank that was strong enough to crack open the arrow crab was the emerald mithrax crab. He also managed to take a half-inch chunk out of my Bartlett Anthias. It was at that point that we nicknamed him "The Murderer" and decided to take his now-huge post-molting muscle man figure back to the LFS for them to sell. They have since sold him, and I am sure he is happy in his new home, where he is waiting to strike again...
