I had 2 emeralds. I for some reason only see one lately (uh-oh), anyways, I have had them both for months & have never noticed anything being snacked on. Great little crag though always picking at the rock work, dont see it down on the sandbed but hardly ever.

I have had emerald crabs with no loss of any corals or damage to fish. I have found they will eat any non calcareous algae in the tank. As always individuals will vary on their preferences.

I had a DIY hob fuge that housed some cheato. No matter how much I tried I seemed to always have bits of it get into my tank and now it is growing in patches and I hate the way it looks. Got an emerald crab from reef cleaners just the other day and he's going to work on it already. I love the little guy. He hides a bit and is kind of skiddish but this is only his 3rd day in his new home. It may just be me but I love this little guy, but I like crabs in general. IF, however, he ever touches any of my LPS's bannished he will be.

I have two emeralds (and have had several in the past) and they have not bothered any corals (GSP, etc). They will occasionally pick some bits of algae, etc off the corals (some may see this and think they are actually eating the corals). They can/do get bigger than you'd expect but mine have always been compatible with reef and fish.

I bought the last two because of some bubble algae. They have eaten some but don't seem to like it any better than other food sources. They just seem to graze along and will eat the bubble algae if it's in front of them but will not go out of their way to do so.

    Overall, I'd recommend but YMMV.
