Resolved emo nemo simming on his nose

He is still alive and up and about. Spends most of his day swimming on his nose. I have been keeping just the blue lights on to help with having no strees.

 

Good news he still hanging in there. Hope he pulls threw.

 

Still alive today. He is still swimming on his nose. But it has changed some. Now he is having to swim to stay at the bottom of the tank. He is starting to float up. Thinking of lowering the salinity to change the water bouncy level to help him with saying down. Right now it’s at 1.024.

 

Don't mess around with the parameters when your trying to get a fish back to normal.

I gave him some real frozen fish food last night. He ate some but not much. I guess it's hard for him to eat on his head.

I watched several youtube videos of this. Most of the videos the fish are swimming around bumping into things. My nemo seems to be really calm just staying in one place. I can only guess that is a good sign.

I'm guessing no one has any real idea what to do about this. I see several people looking at this thread but not posting on it. So I guess I will just keep everyone updated on how he is doing. Maybe help everyone.

I had this happen to me with a ocellaris clown-fish when I picked up a an existing tank with live stock except he was on his side for days @ the top of the water column i did a partial water change and he came around in a few days. I attributed the incident to a nitrite spike during the move he is still with me today after a year.

If he's still swimming and looks alert I wouldn't worry too much. Well... I _DID_ worry... but I have seen it a few times now with clownfish. They are strange, and will sometimes do strange things and react to external stimuli in odd ways. When I got my clowns one seemed fine, the other would do headstand like yours, swim into the corner of the tank, swim around backwards... you name it, all kinds of weird. That lasted the better part of a week. Sometimes it would be normal then I would check an hour later and it would be on it's nose or upside down....

I've had this pair for almost 3 years now and I still sometimes catch them acting odd... usually it's related to spawning behavior these days... sometimes they just flip out for no reason.

Ultimately clownfish are amazingly hardy, and as long as it's eating and moving it should snap out of it.

Update. He seems to be getting better; I did a 100% water change in the hospital tank today. 4gal a day was not enough to keep up with the ammonia. I guess was feeding too much.

So he is now swimming across the tank then stop and stands on his nose again. I think now he is doing it to look at his reflection in the bottom of the tank.

I'm going to keep him in the hospital tank for another day to see how well he is doing. if he is still better or the same tomorrow after i get home from work I will put in back in the big tank.

 

;D Update, emo nemo is back in the big tank and doing great swimming around with his tank mates. ;D
