I purchase a juvenile emperor angel last Saturday and in the first couple of days it seemed to be settling in fine. It seems very comfortable with its tankmates, it seems to hang out with my Foxface most of the time and no problems with the Tangs. Problem is it has not been eating and to make matters worst it has a pretty bad ich problem. I am weary of doing a freshwater dip, and all my LFS has for chemicals is copper based which I cannot use. I thought if I can get him to eat maybe he can fight off the ich and I even dropped $300 on a new UV sterilizer to kill the water borne parasites so if he gets rid of the ich I can keep it from coming back. I have tried feeding him frozen Angel food with sponge, tried the same soaked in garlic, I tried green algea and red algea both plain and soaked in garlic but still no luck. I'm afraid I'm going to lose the poor guy if I can't get his health up. Anyone have any suggestions?

Get some cleaner shrimp fast. They help all my fish with ich. He's probably gonna die. They are tricky fish to keep. Try some Formula Two flakes. When it comes to angels and butterfly fish it's a crapshoot. Roll the dice and hope for the best. I prefer to buy them if they have been in the store for at least 2 weeks and are very healthy looking and are good eaters. Good luck.

I would try No Ich or Herbal Ich attack if you cannot take him and and QT... If you can QT him use a Copper formalin combo and it will clear up quick.

They are tough to keep and the hardest part is getting them to settle down and eat heartly.

    Good luck!

If you have another tank use it for quarantine and use a medication. Im not sure which medication works but i have heard copper treatments work well. Easiest way to set up quarantine tank is just take water from your DT and use that, keep it heated with water flow. Goodluck, I HATE ICK!!!!

I got one a couple weeks ago and had the same issues. I ended up losing the fish but I tried turning the heat up turning the lights off. I then resorted to a fw dip and even tried kick ick(waste of 40 bucks). I hope you have better luck then I did. I have beat ick a handfull of times but this time it got 3 fish my pb tang my large naso with streamers and the emperor. My hippo dident even get any ick at all.

That's too bad, you lost some beautiful fish there. I was so worried about my fish last night because the ich dropped off my angel yesterday and of course the next thing is it could get transferred to the other fish. I went overkill on my UV sterilizer so I am hoping that will kill the parasites in the water. My only other option is to set up a quarantine tank.
