looking for a hardy colorful encrusting coral that spreads fast. looking at glove, button, starburst, and jasmine polyps or zoas. not sure what would be best in a fish only system with live rock. please help ! thanks for any input.

Well once you have corals in it, it won't be no fish only system any longer, now will it? XDDD

I think, as far as my knowledge goes, that zoas seem to be pretty hardy and spread like wildfire, but a fish-only system without modifications may be inadequate even for them (lighting, chemical balance, etc.)

EDIT: You could try aiptasia... They encrust everything pretty fast alright...

Joke aside, no, really. One man's pest may be another's pet... Anyway, since aiptasia is quite unpleasing to look at, you could look into majanos.

thanks for the inputs. do encrusting corals only spread if they are actually touching the nearest rock or glass. i want to set up a rock structure that looks like it is all touching but really is not.

    Physical contact mostly.

You could try Blue Cloves but be careful for what you wish for. They will grow across the surface and spawn successfully.
