So I bought an Engineer Goby a few days ago. I was reading up on them and it said that they need a sand substrate. I built him/her a rock cave home and he/she seems to like it. As I read further about them it never mentioned sand sifting like the other Gobies. :-/
Does this little guy/girl not sift like the others?
    Replies are much appreciated :cheesy:

i had one a while ago, and they will make burrows in the sand...i actually just watched a good segment on them during the fish part of Discoerys 'Life' series...

make sure your rock structure is pretty secure because they will try to burrow under your rocks...

yea and if you have a small tank a dead fish will wreck havoc in a tank.

Would It be better if I just had a huge pile of sand for him/her?
The the rock structure had a bunch of space to move around in.

Had to banish my Engineer back to the refugium after 2 weeks in the reef...he was tunneling WAY too much and spitting the sand on my sand bed corals....he grew up in the fuge anyhow...from about an inch when i bought him...he is about 7" now
