On a really old DSB there could be issues by stirring up the bottom layers. However, on a newer tank there shouldn't be an issue. The bigger issue with engineer gobies are rockslides....make sure the rocks are stacked well and touching the bottom glass.

yea when i started my tank i did my research and put my rocks in then added the sand so there would be no case of that.... my sand bed is about 8-9 months old... u think itll be ok?

I have tried to put sand back to the dismay of my goby. He would watch me and wait til I was finished and start moving it back again. Pretty funny. It's pretty futile to fight him. I guess it's a small price to pay for all the work he does. I love watching him.

Mine caused a huge nitrate spike and my tank was younger than yours. I would keep an eye on nitrates. I wasn't a sand vacuumer... now I am. If I was you I would do a little vaccuming if you don't already. Don't vacuum more than a small area at a time though. How big is yours? Mine went from 2" to 9 in about 10 months.

Mine moves stuff around too. hes about 7"....

I guess i kinda figure as long as he doesnt stop for a while and then start again, it will be ok because he will always keep it moving.

I havent seen any params spike. I think you will be ok

...Now if he would just come out a little more often
