BeamsWork HI LUMEN LED Light Fixture Hex 0.2W 24" (TR)

Would this outfit work for my tank?

It's a 15 long(12x12x24) and I would like to grow softies and zoas and some lps

I don't really think it is but I'm not a expert!

I'm on a tight budget for lighting so any other suggestions are welcome!

I wouldn't waste money on it. Even the Marineland LEDs use 1w diodes and aren't considered good for much where corals are concerned.

A good 2x24 T5HO runs around $80 - $90; the stock OEM bulbs will work for what you want, or you can replace them with top-end bulbs like ATI for SPS corals and clams.

I am not sure either. My first feeling is no also. Their description of fish/invert light makes me think they don't consider it to be enough for corals.

    +1 to Mr. Bill's post.

those are .2 watt leds. You are going to get absolutely no penetration with them. I would say no.

Unless someone knows of something specific that I'm not aware of, I don't think you're going to get a decent reef-capable LED for that price. Even PAR30 and 38 spotlight bulbs are that or higher, and you'd need at least 2 for coverage on a long tank. OTOH, a 2x24 T5HO is more than capable; that's exactly what I have on my 29H reef tank.

If you really want LEDs, check out Reef Breeders; they have the best prices for good LED fixtures. Just expect to pay a bit more than you planned.

+1 to going with the T5's with your price range. I wanted LEDs for the longest time but found a great deal on a t5/ hqi fixture and just with the t5s on I get great polyp extension and growth is amazing. But if your dead set on LEDs then Reef Breeders was one of the best I could find on pricing.
