I added a yellowhead jawfish 3 days ago and was wondering if there was any way to get him burrowing on the visible side of the tank. At about 8 pm he comes completely out of his duplex :builder2:(two peices of LR, plus a hidey hole in a stacked one) He is eating flakes fine, I got some mysis shrimp and a turkey baster and will feed him on the other side of his cave to see if he starts burrowing visibly! Any suggstions?

give it time - as long as there is nothing else there that will bully it, eventually it will get more comfortable with it's surroundings and venture out a little more. If you have large fish that may intimidate it, it may not come out at all so something to keep in mind.

That sounds fine - like i said just give it a little more time to get used to the surroundings and I'm sure it will move to the front eventually as long as there is adequate substrate for it to burrow. Also I wouldn't feed it with a baster or anything. It again will venture out for food and eventually build a burrow where it knows the food is going to be in the future.

Yeah, turned on the lights to find him digging in a corner up front, then saw some live rock fell (not his duplex) then he went back and burrowed on the other corners.

I love jawfish, want a blue dot soooo badly but I have open tops and that's a no go. Would love to see some pics of your yellowhead, they have to be the funniest fish ever other than the flamehawk
