Ok, so then safe to say I could use that Waterweld. Now just curious if I have to do it out of water and wait 24 hours before re-entering into tank. If I have to do that how do I keep my live rock ok for that 24 hours?

PC Marine, Plug-N-Patch and Aquamend said to not add to aquarium with inhabitants until 24 hours after the putty was mixed.

Waterweld peeps said it was safe immediately.

I think this is because of the effect the byproducts of the reaction can have on a skimmer's function.

Since they aren't made for specifically for aquarium use I would think it's just a liability disclaimer. I've never had an issue with using uncured AquaMend and I've never read anywhere on the packaging that it needs to be cured before put into the aquarium. I'm reading it and the tube insert again when I get home. But even if it does I won't stop using it. I use it for rockwork and mounting frags to the rock. Never have had an issue and never have any extra skimmate after using it.

I've used it uncured in my tank because the MSDS are same for all. But, I'm just passing along what the manufacturers said after I researched the topic some years back. I think a couple of those are actually the same product.

I didn't have any luck when I tried to glue my rock together with those puttys inside my tank. Stuff works great for gluing down frags, but is not strong enough under water to hold two rocks together.

If your rock work is secure you don't need to glue it all together. Most people actually don't glue it together so they can rearrange it as they see fit.

stepho - I did not glue them all together I just glued the ones together that were a little unsturdy or ones where we were trying to make and arch. We did it right in the tank with fish and all and at first had a heck of a time with the waterweld no sticking, but after pushing down on the putty and forning it around the rocks it worked ok. This am it is all hardened perfectly and the rocks don't move. So I am happy we did it, our reef looks much better now.
