OK I have decided on my new tank it is a 120 48x24x24 with 2 overflows and I have decided on my lighting. I have decided on the bullet skimmer but not sure what one to get. Bullet 1 with mag 12 pump or a bullet 2 with mag 18 pump. If I get the bullet 2 will that be skimming to much on my system as it is rated for 250 gallons. Also I am still trying to figure this sump/fuge thing out. I thought about using one overflow for sump and the other overflow for a fuge but I am getting mixed thoughts on this. I am starting to think just one big sump/fuge combo about 50 to 70 gallons. And if I do that would a mag 12 pump be good enough to handle it or go with a mag 18 for a return pump. Any thoughts.

Dude!!!!!! Hey there bro. I would go with the Bullet-2. People tend to overstock a bit anyway, so a little extra skimming never hurt.

All I can tell you about the sump/fuge thing is what plan to do. I am going to run two 600GPH CPR overflows. My sump/fuge is a 20g long. The fuge part is the right third of the tank. My right OF is set up to split and feed the fuge, with the majority of the water moving across the bottom of the tank to meet the left OF and drain down into the sump. That is the plan. I will have two returns, a RIO 2100+ and a Mag7. Both are rated about 525GPH at 5'. Kind of hard to visualize so here are the pics to illustrate.

The piping to the sump is behind the skimmer.

I'll take one and post it later. It's pumpkin patch time (decided about 30 seconds ago).

I cut a piece of acrylic and silly-coned it in place then a piece of eggcrate on top to catch the macro pieces of algae if and when they decide to break free.

Looking forward to it John. This is the last bit of equipment that I need to figure out. I have started placing orders on other stuff so when it all gets here it will be time to build. I am getting help from gras and jim on this project too. I know I'll need it and can't wait to have a mini 3reef get together. Anyone else want to come to Athens to help. LOL

Not sure I quite understand this set up. Send both overflows to sump and t off a line to the fuge and send from fuge to sump then return from sump to tank, Is that right.

This is how I plumbed mine. Keep in mind that there are many ways to plumb a system and there isnt a wrong/right way(for the most part).

    R/P plumbing
