Heaters are fine, temp should never bounce back and forth like that...

Found that the temp probe had comp lose and was floating on/above the surface of the sump....put it back in the water and the tank is at 78 degrees...the chiller turned in...un-pluged it and will let the tank drift down as it is 48 degrees outside...the fish won't mind...so, the heaters work fine...

It turns out, it is a very good thing that I had the thermostats on the heaters set to about 77 deg...it's an excellent backup to the RKE controller.

On a side note, I emptied the PM skimmer collector for the third time...averaging about once a week...the collector holds a bit more than half a gallon...each time, there has been a couple tablespoons of very nasty, very black, thick, muck on the bottom of the waste collector, after the dark brown wast has been poured off. So, the PM Bullet 3 with O3 is working well, I'm liking it.

Tangster, can you provide a flow diagram for such a reactor as the one is this pic...???

    For example,

    • The CO2 infuser is piped to the discharge side of the pump...I would have expected it on the suction side...
    • The make up or supply connection (blue 1/4" tubing) is on the suction of the pump...while this is fine for any system which is submerged...this one will be run where it is sitting on the shelf...and provided with an inlet from the return pump...so the reactor will be operated under some amount of pressure...
    • Also there is no provision for a pH probe on this...so, I have the PVC and fittings to add a T to the 1/4" vent line from the pump discharge to the top of the chamber so that there is a pH probe to be used to control the CO2 system...the controller is on the right side of the pic...
I am thinking of "steeling" a baking pan from the kitchen to be used as a drip pan for the first couple of weeks of running this thing...think I'll get in trouble...????

Only if you don't replace the pan with a superior one, preferably filled with something good to eat :D

Here are some pics of the sump:

On the left, is where the water enters the sump, (disassembled to inspect after 10 weeks, all looks good, the only change was to add a bit of floss under to top cap to filter the air exiting the top and totally silence the water fall)...

Here is the inlet header for the over flow from the tank and skimmer...

    Here it is all connected:

In the center, about 3' long, is 150 #s of live rock/crumble..

Last, on the right, is the suction for the return pump...

I'm getting intermittent low level alarms. I suspect it is due to turbulence in the return chamber of the sump...to check this theory, here is a quickly made shield...when the RTV dries, I'll give it a try.

If this work....I should make up one that looks and fits better....
