I have a new approx 4-5 gallon tank. It's like a little cube. 11 3/4 tall, 10 wide and deep.

I have a few questions on the equipment I should use for this tank. I am thinking for filtration the marineland bio wheel 100 power filter, is this good enough, maybe even too much, it's such a big filter unit I am trying to go small as possible without sacrificing filtration quality.

For the heater the Hydor mini 7.5 watt heater, is a heater even needed?

Lighting, the coralife mini pc lighting unit was first on my list, any other suggestions? Also, if anyone is familar with this unit can you attach the legs to this so it sits above the tank?

Well problem is I already bought the tank and really don't just want to move on to something else.

Is there some sort of cheaper light system that would work that clips on the tank and hangs over it, I think it's a PC light as well. I have seen them on the pico types but I am not sure if they would be powerful enough because my tank is a little deeper then those???

The bio wheel filter you are looking at it should be perfect for flow and filtration. Check out this light:

    Azoo Neo Light LED

I have one of these over a 20 gallon tall frag tank. The frag rack at the top is growing and supporting a hammer coral, gsb, and leathers right now. It puts out absolutely no heat and gives that halide shimmer effect. The light penetrates all the way to the sand so it will be more than enough for your little tank.

Thanks for the input. That's a sweet looking light, will be on my list of considerations for sure.

I would stick with the Coralife mini PC, if you plan on keeping any corals

Just wanted to drop you an update on my coral under the azoo led light. Im now housing yellow polyps and GSP on the bottom of my 20 gallon tall under it. Doesnt look like a huge amount of light at that depth but the par values are still growing those corals like crazy. Remember this tank is way way deeper than what your looking at.

Oh and about too much light I dont personally believe of such a thing (reasonably) my reef tank is sitting at almost 10 watts per gallon MH plus acnictics with GSP very high in the tank and everything looks good no bleaching.

Jason McKenzie, thanks for the input. But I need something that can sit above the tank, the coralife legs don't work with the mini light fixture.

mikejrice, thanks for the update. How long is the light fixture by the way?
