Last night, while I was feeding my 2 O Clowns, the larger one darted at the other and popped him. Then, the smaller one, that had been popped, shuddered for a second. Then everything went back to normal.

They were in a tank at the LFS with several other clowns and have been in my QT for about 9 days. I assume, especially since it was feeding time, that the larger was just establishing dominance. They look and act great. Look very health and are both very active. They come to the glass when I get home and walk over to the tank. The larger one will actually eat food off of my fingertip if I stick it in the tank. I make sure my hands are clean, of course.

Does this dominance type action sound right/normal?

Yes it is a dominance/submission display. The shudder was submission hence no other aggression from the female to the male.

Is it safe to say that the larger has made the "change"? It was not the largest in the tank that it came from 9 days ago.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Perfectly normal behavior between a dominate female and the male.

This is a behavior that continues through the life span.

As long as he is not showing tattered fins, and hiding in the corner and refusing to eat I would not be concerned.
