Anyone have this? Having trouble getting it to siphon even using the tom's aqualifter. Does the airline tubing need to be all the way through from end to end of the utube? And actually sitting in water in the black pre-filter? Thx.

I have one. You do not need an air pump to start or maintain siphon. With the overflow in place and at the correct level, make sure water is in both the in-tank section and back of tank section so both sides of the U tube are submerged. Get a long enough piece of air tubing so that while the U tube is in place, stick the tubing into the U tube just past the halfway point. Then, just suck :)

Once you get it siphoned once, you will never need to restart the siphon unless you remove the U tube.

It's difficult to keep water in the part of the utube that goes in the overflow box because the water goes down the standpipe in drips when I use the air pump..

The u-tube goes on the opposite side of the baffle from the stand pipe; that's what keeps it from losing it's prime in a power outage. As Marshall already stated, make sure both sides are full so that both ends of the u-tube are under water before priming. Also, ensure that your tank water level is high enough to overflow into the collection box.

Thanks guys. Yeah, the utube is sitting in the opp. side of the standpipe. I just found a few minor leaks from below the standpipe at the flex tubing and clamp. :( Any other kind of somewhat clear tubing I could use with no bend to it?

Confused to what you are asking? What do you need the clear tubing for?

Oh, I used Eshopps own tubing as it came with my sump and made to match the overflow. I believe you can find this online or at your LFS.

I cemented a pvc pipe into the bottom of the bulkhead followed by other hardware nec.to connect flex pipe then ball valve then more flex hose to bulkhead of my precision marine refugium. I'm having leaking from flex hose at the insert and hose clamp.
