Has anyone ever used a etss reef devil skimmer. I just bought one used w/o a pump. I tried plugging it into my 580 GPH via aqua but either the foam wasnt rising or it would flow throughout every opening including the breather. Anyone knows a good cheap pump for this skimmer to work well?

I replaced the CA pump with a rio 2500 because with the CA pump I could only get a dry foam, now I can adjust it anywhere I want, wet or dry. Also try pulling the inlet for water and air up out of the bioball tube a little, I did this and it made a big difference, make sure there aren't too many bioballs also I think I have 5 or 6 in mine. I've heard some bad things about this skimmer but this thing really kicks a$$

also 580 gph isn't enough I would suggest at least 700 gph

I had a ETSS Super Reef devil 3, hated it. I used a mag 7, and the recommended 20ish bio balls. I could get good foam production, but those skimmers are too sensitive for my liking now. Simply looking at it, killed foam production :D

Bruce, why post that? Please refrain in the future from doing that, it only clutters up the discussion. Thanks.

Yah, definitly a like it or not. Mine was a Super Reef Devil III, not to be confused with the Reef Devil (maybe they call it super as well, but not III, this one was dicontinued years ago). Mine isn't the one with a round base.

$70 is what I was asking for mine, so I think you got a screaming deal :D Mine w/o pump, was $350 back in 99/98 (IIRC).
